With the Cleveland Browns starting the season 0-2, fans do not want to hear about the positives, even if there are some. The new “Alpha Dawg” helmet will not rile up some excitement or positivity, even if they look good at practice.
With the Green Bay Packers coming into town for Week 3’s matchup, there are concerns around the team, including many believing that Dillon Gabriel should replace Joe Flacco at quarterback. That is far from the only concern as the slot cornerback position is a big problem
and the offensive line has had its struggles.
A back injury to Joel Bitonio only adds to the concern on the line in front of Flacco.
Interestingly, the Browns offensive line has given Flacco enough time to throw, but the veteran with the big arm has not been able to get the ball downfield:
With Flacco just above average around the NFL in time to throw, we know the statuesque passer is not buying time with his mobility in order to pump up that number. The offense’s inability to take the top off of defenses, along with the offensive line’s struggles in run blocking, has allowed opposing teams to stack the box and take away the run game.
Against the Packers tough pass rush, especially if Jack Conklin and Bitonio are not able to play, Cleveland will need to scheme up ways to keep Flacco upright while giving him shot plays downfield if the team wants a chance to win.
Are you surprised by the time to throw data/chart above based on watching the first two games of the season?
