The Golden State Warriors started off their pre-New Year’s back-to-back in debilitating style, blowing a late double-digit lead to lose to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night. They’ll try to get that game back today when they head back into the states to take on the 10-19 Brooklyn Nets.
There are some notable names that either won’t play, or might not play for both teams. Here’s the full injury report.
Warriors
Out — Al Horford (left toe injury management)
Horford only just returned from his sciatica injury,
but you know the drill: he doesn’t play back-to-backs. He suited up against Toronto on Sunday, scoring seven points in 17 minutes, while grabbing seven rebounds and blocking two shots. He’ll rest for this game, but presumably play on New Year’s Eve.
Out — Seth Curry (left sciatic nerve irritation)
The younger Curry has still played just two games for the Warriors, and it’s been almost a month since we’ve seen him on the court.
Probable — Jimmy Butler III (low back soreness)
Butler hasn’t quite looked like himself for much of this season, and he also hasn’t been fully healthy. He’s still having a strong year, though, and the Warriors need him.
Nets
Out — Ben Saraf (G League assignment)
It’s been a rocky start to the career of one of Brooklyn’s quartet of first-round picks this year. Saraf, a 19-year old who was taken 26th overall, has appeared in 12 games, and shot just 35.5% from the field (and 27.3% from three-point range). He hasn’t played since the first week of December, as he’s been getting some seasoning in the G League.
Out — Haywood Highsmith (right knee surgery injury recovery)
Highsmith was traded to the Nets in August, and has yet to make his debut for the team, after he underwent surgery shortly before the season began. He should be nearing a return soon.
Probable — Ziaire Williams (right ankle sprain)
Williams has turned into a quality role player in his fifth season. He’s hoping to return to the court after missing Brooklyn’s last game — his fourth absence of the year.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation! The game tips off at 4:30 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Bay Area.
