RB Leipzig saw its pursuit of Hoffenheim attacker Fisnik Asllani end on Friday due to medical concerns, but that potential addition was an outlier for Die Roten Bullen.
In fact, RB Leipzig actually wants to make six-to-eight players sales and not focus as much on additions to its roster per Sky Germany journalist Philipp Hinze:
🔴 Fisnik Asllani was a market opportunity for RB Leipzig that, in terms of price/performance/profile/potential, won’t come around again so quickly from this perspective. RB would
have brought in Asllani for €25m despite the overcrowded squad; he was the offensive dream solution. RB let the deal fall through due to medical concerns & red flags.
9 & 10 are actually taken, no urgent need for RB. Focus remains on departures. 6-8 pros should still leave. That requires offers, which is currently proving complicated.
On the incoming side, it stays the same: Even with the Diomande millions, Leipzig won’t pay base fees >€50m. Clear internal guidelines. @SkySportDE
This is an interesting development for RB Leipzig, which does, indeed, have a very talented and deep roster. As always, though, selling players during the summer is always a focal point for the club. Always keeping a small core group of veterans to guide the team, RB Leipzig does look to flip young talent frequently.
Now, the focus will be on finding the right mix for the 2026/27 campaign, which — as we now know — will not include the versatile Asllani.
