On Saturday evening, De’Aaron Fox hit his 12,000th point as the Spurs faced the Celtics in Boston.
Fox came over to the Spurs last February in a stellar three-team trade. He only played in 17 games before
undergoing a season-ending surgery to repair tendon damage in his left pinkie finger.
This season he missed the first eight games due to a hamstring injury. Between his setbacks and Victor Wembanyama’s various injuries, the two have only played together in 21 games. Considering that they are still getting to know each other, they have helped elevate the Spurs to second in the Western Conference.
There are miles to go before they sleep. If their failure to closeout against the Minnesota Timberwolves is any indication, the team requires adjustments, not missing pieces. There is a lot to build on.
