Lionel Messi has posted a message on social media after making a surprise visit back home to visit the renovated Camp Nou.
The GOAT has posted several images of his visit to the stadium, including one of him
standing on the pitch, and has made it clear just how much he misses his home.
Here’s what he wrote on Instagram:
“Last night I returned to a place I miss with my soul. A place where I was immensely happy, where you guys made me feel a thousand times the happiest person in the world. I hope one day I can come back, and not just to say goodbye as a player, as I never got to…”
Barcelona held an open training session at the stadium last week in front of 23,000 spectators which saw the players finally get a chance to try out their renovated new home. The hope is they will play their first game back at Camp Nou after the international break against Athletic Club.
Joan Laporta was present at the event once again and spoke about a tribute for Messi at the Camp Nou once it is finally completed.
“Of course, I would love that,” he said. “It would be a beautiful way to express our gratitude and recognition. Once the stadium reaches its new capacity, we can organize the tribute he and the club truly deserve.”
