For the third successive round in the FA Cup, Chelsea have been drawn away against a Championship side. But our latest will be the most high profile of the lot, as we head up to North Wales, to face Hollywood FC in Wrexham on the weekend of March 7.
Wrexham, now in the fifth full season under the ownership of Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac (née McElhenney), and under the management of Phil Parkinson, are looking for an unprecedented fourth successive promotion, and currently sit eighth,
just a point out of the last playoff spot. (Our previous opponents in this competition, Hull City, are fifth, but Wrexham are by far the higher profile matchup.)
The Red Dragons have already beaten Nottingham Forest (on penalties) and Ipswich Town to get this far, and will certainly be looking to collect their biggest scalp yet.
This will be our first competitive match against Wrexham since 1982, though we did play them twice in preseason friendlies, in 2023 and 2024. The latter was most notable for a bit of handbags between Levi Colwill and former Premier League hardman James McClean. Spicy!
The draw for the FA Cup fifth round, in full, is as follows:
Fulham vs. Southampton
Port Vale OR Bristol City vs. Sunderland
Newcastle United vs. Manchester City
Leeds United vs. Norwich City
Mansfield Town vs. Arsenal
Wolves vs. Liverpool
Wrexham vs. CHELSEA
West Ham vs. Brentford
