Grayson Allen had a very good Duke career. In his freshman year, he came off the bench against Wisconsin as a virtual unknown in the national championship game and made what coach Mike Krzyzewski called one of the greatest plays in Duke Basketball history when he dove after a loose ball, thoroughly pumping up his somewhat deflated team.
He had a buzzer beater against Virginia for another highlight but left Duke with a bit of a cloud after his kicking incidents.
Nonetheless, he was a first-round draft
pick by the Utah Jazz. He’s currently playing for Phoenix (along with fellow former Blue Devils Mark Williams and Khaman Maluach) and on Monday had a tremendous game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Allen finished that game with 12-17/10-15 and shot 70.6%. He also had four assists.
Phoenix was expected to take a big hit with Kevin Durant now playing for the Houston Rockets, but so far, the Suns are exceeding expectations, and Allen is a big part of that.
