What is the story about?
The World Cup begins tomorrow, with the first match in Seattle on Monday. Why mention this on a UW site? Because UW will be one of the practice sites for the teams playing in Seattle. Also, UW got a commitment yesterday from a recruit from New Jersey (Coach Fisch’s home state). Those and more in today’s Dots.
Football Dots
- The big news for UW yesterday was the commitment of Edge Chaz Gray from Mantvale, New Jersey. Aaron has his article on Gray’s commitment here. Dawgman has theirs here. Christian Caple has ($) 8 thoughts on Grays commitment. Roman Tomashoff has his thoughts on the commitment here. Dan Raley also writes about the commitment and points out that Gray and Derek Zammit, the freshman QB who is also from New Jersey, played each other last fall-with Gray’s team getting the win.
- Jonah Coleman is a finalist for NIL Store Male Athlete of the Year. He grew his following on X by 108% in the last ll months and his Instagram following by 15% while he was in Seattle. He partnered with brands like Uber Eats and Alaska Airlines and last year he donated $10,000 to his high school in Stockton, California.
- Coach Fisch, Demond Williams Jr. and John Mills met with Husky fans in the Tri-Cities and talked about the upcoming season.
- I’m sure that there are a lot of Husky fans that would agree with this:

- The University of Washington will be a practice venue for the FIFA World Cup in Seattle from June 11-July 9. Teams competing in the World Cup in Seattle have the option to practice at UW’s Soccer Stadium. (Note that the practices will be closed to the public.) - Members of the Big Ten had a call with Senators Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell to discuss their Protect College Sports Act. At this point, it is just making sure that there is a constructive dialog.
- The UW Women’s Basketball team has their conference matchups for next season.
- There will be 17 Huskies competing in the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene starting today, nine women and seven men. Included in that group are Sarah Borton who made it by clearing a career-best 14’6-1/4” after overcoming an ACL tear and Saydi Orange who also overcame surgery. Read about their journeys here.
- From UW Pole Vaulter to American Ninja Warrior. Max Manson was one of 12 Ninjas in the Western region that completed the course.
