Over the next few weeks I will be looking at the top performers at each level in the Astros system. This week is the Florida Complex League Astros.
Anthony Huezo, OF Huezo was drafted by the Astros in the 12th
round of the 2023 draft out of high school. After a rough first year in pro ball, he turned it around in 2025. The 19-year-old played most of the season in the FCL and hit .231 but had a team leading .856 OPS with 6 home runs and 12 stolen bases. He finished the season in Fayetteville hitting .301 over 22 games. Read more on him here.
Javier Perez, RHP
Perez had an absolutely dominant 2025 season in the Florida Complex League. After some dominant numbers in the DSL last year, Perez opened up the season in the FCL and continued his domination posting a 1.69 ERA with 8 walks to 48 strikeouts over 42.2 innings. He was also named FCL Pitcher of the Year. He finished the season in Fayetteville posting 3 BB/22 K over 26 innings.
German Ramirez, INF
Ramirez got a big bonus a couple of years ago and just had his best season as a pro in 2025. Playing the season at 18 years old, Ramirez hit .245 with a .757 OPS and 11 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs and 29 runs batted in. An impressive season for the young infielder and hopefully one he can build on in 2026.
Luis Aguilar, RHP
While Perez was dominant, Aguilar wasn’t far behind him. In the FCL this season, Aguilar posted a 2.05 ERA with a team leading 49 strikeouts over a team leading 44 innings. He also allowed just 29 hits. Aguilar was named to the FCL All-Star team and also made his full-season debut with Fayetteville. He and Perez appear to be pitchers who will carry the Fayetteville staff next year.
Ethan Wagner, OF
Wagner was drafted by the Astros in the 17th round of the 2024 draft. The 19-year-old made his professional debut this season and played pretty well, posting a .707 OPS with 4 home runs and 21 runs batted in. He also had a .806 OPS over his final 22 games including a strong 11 walks to 15 strikeouts ratio.
