As the Chicago Bears prepare for the ninth game of the season against the New York Giants on Sunday, we are starting to get the first official team injury reports for week 10.
Once again, the Bears had a sizable list of players who were listed as DNP (did not practice) on the first report of the week. This includes: DB Josh Blackwell (concussion), DB Kevin Byard III (back/ankle), LB TJ Edwards (hand/hamstring), DL Grady Jarrett (rest), WR DJ Moore (hip/groin), WR Rome Odunze (ankle/heel), and DL Dominique
Robinson (ankle).
Listed as limited in practice were RB Roschon Johnson (back), TE Cole Kmet (concussion), RB Kyle Monangai (ankle), and RB D’Andre Swift (groin).
WR Luther Burden III (concussion) and LB Amen Ogbongbemiga (knee) were full participants.
As always, it’s tough to read too much into the first injury report of the week. Edwards would be concerning at first-glance since his return to the lineup earlier this season was a big positive for the team. Byard also will be critical to have on Sunday, as the veteran has been one of the most consistent players on the Bears defense this season.
All of that said, we saw nearly the entire WR room listed on the first injury report last week, and ultimately most of those players end up playing against the Bengals. Seeing Burden listed as a full participant today is encouraging.
The Giants injury report was quite lengthy as well. Listed as DNP: CB Paulson Adebo (knee), WR Beaux Collins (neck), OLB Victor Dimukeje (shoulder), OT Jermaine Eluemunor (pec), K Graham Gano (neck), DL Chauncey Golston (neck), LB Darius Muasau (ankle), and C John Michael Schmitz (shin).
Practicing in a limited capacity were: TE Thomas Fidone II (foot), CB Cor’Dale Flott (concussion), LB Neville Hewett (foot), S Jevón Holland (knee), TE Theo Johnson (shoulder), DL Rakeem Nuñez-Roches Sr. (elbow), and CB Dru Phillips (calf).
Giants TE Daniel Bellinger (neck) and S Dane Belton (neck) were full participants.
The Bears take on the Giants this Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago. The game takes place at 12:00 p.m. (Chicago time).
