Get ready for an onslaught of baseball games, folks. The Yankees’ schedule has them playing 13 straight games and 19 over the next 20 days to close out the regular season, and the next six are especially crucial — the Tigers and Red Sox are the last two opponents on the docket with records above .500, and the Sox in particular directly are competing with them for a Wild Card spot. After that it’s nothing but the lowly Twins, Orioles, and White Sox to round out the year, so if they can stay on top
of their game they can easily close out on a high note.
Before the big week kicks off with Detroit coming into town tonight, let’s go through what’s in store on our end. Nolan starts us off with one of our last weekly minor league recaps as the A-ball teams wrap up play, and then Jake gives us the series preview for Detroit. I’ll be back to give you the Rivalry Roundup, Jeff covers the latest 2000 Diary entry featuring Andy Pettitte outdueling Pedro Martinez, and then Scott gives us a look at the last week from the RailRiders as they push for a playoff spot.
