The Kentucky Wildcats are geared up to build their roster ahead of the 2026-27 season. Mark Pope and staff are expected to be involved with San Francisco standout Tyrone Riley, according to Jacob Polacheck at KSR.
Riley, a 6-6 small forward who averaged 12.2 points (36.8% from deep), 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and one steal per game, is expected to be among the’ Wildcats’ portal targets this year, something he was last year as well.
The California native played 31.8 minutes per game this season, earning
All-WCC awards. He was also on the All-Conference freshman team after his 2024-25 campaign before entering the portal that offseason. Pope and Jason Hart had a serious interest in Riley. They made contact with him in early April, while Hart flew to the West Coast to meet with Riley’s father.
Just a few days after, Riley withdrew his name from the portal and returned to play for the Dons.
“It took a lot of talks at night, a lot of seeing the good and bad programs, seeing what would be the best spot for me. What I eventually did was stay at San Francisco.” Riley told KSR.
Riley will be a name to watch as the transfer portal officially opens the day after the NCAA National Championship game, on April 7th.
