The Miami Dolphins placed rookie wide receiver Chris Bell on the active/non-football injury list on Tuesday afternoon while the third-round pick continues to work his way back from an ACL injury suffered while in college at Louisville. The ligament tear happened on November 22nd in a game against SMU, however since Bell wasn’t in the National Football League at that time, his designation is of the non-football variety.
According to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, Bell is still working to get back to “football
mode” and the team is being cautious with their young investment.
Miami’s rookies reported to the facility on Tuesday morning to get a jump on training camp. Dolphins’ veterans will report one week from today — on July 28th.
In four seasons with Louisville, Bell played in 47 games, amassing 151 receptions for 2,166 yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 14.3 yards per reception in college. His senior season (2025) was his most productive — catching 72 passes for 917 yards and 6 touchdowns in just 11 games played. Prior to his injury, Bell was being discussed as a late first-round pick in some draft circles.
We will continue to keep you updated with all things Miami Dolphins as the long, football-less summer nears its conclusion.
