Earlier this week, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor would not commit to quarterback Jake Browning, Joe Burrow’s injury replacement, starting under center following his third straight loss as a starter.
He did, though, state that he wanted to name a starting quarterback by Wednesday.
Then on Tuesday, the Bengals made what Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur called a surprising trade of former Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco, a passer who has already beaten the Packers once before in the 2025 regular season. LaFleur stated on Wednesday that he believes that Flacco will be able to make a smooth transition to the starting role, considering Flacco’s 195 NFL starts with various offensive systems.
Now, it’s confirmed that Flacco will be Cincinnati’s starting quarterback this week. Taylor went to the podium today, making good on his Wednesday deadline promise, and said that Flacco will be taking every single snap for the Bengals in practice this week. He’s their quarterback moving forward, because, in Taylor’s words, Flacco’s “style fits our style.”
If you need a refresher on how Flacco performed against the Packers in Week 3, our Dusty Evely broke down the film for you.
