Forgotten man David Datro Fofana was recalled from his loan at Besiktas earlier this window, with the expectation that he would find a permanent move for himself. Evidently, that didn’t exactly happen,
with the 23-year-old striker now heading to sister club RC Strasbourg on loan instead.
DDF was having decent success for himself in Türkiye, scoring 8 times in 15 appearances for a fairly bad Fatih Karagümrük side. Hopefully he can continue that at RCSA, where he will be expected to help make up for Emmanuel Emegha’s continuing absence (which has nothing to do with his future transfer to Chelsea).
Fofana joined Chelsea from Molde FK three years ago, and he did make four appearances for the first-team, even, soon after. Since then however, he’s been hitting the ol’e dusty loan trail, with spells at Union Berlin, Burnley, Göztepe, before his most recent assignment. Some had gone well enough, some had gone terribly. One ended in a big injury. Hopefully this one will be more like the former.
