San Diego Wave announced the signing of midfielder and defender, Kiki Pickett to a two-year contract through the 2027 season.
“Kiki (Pickett) is a dynamic player we’ve been familiar with for a long time,
dating back to her time with Kansas City. We’re excited to bring her into our environment,” said Sporting Director and General Manager Camille Ashton. “She is a competitive, intelligent player who brings experience and composure to the midfield, and we believe she fits well with the way we want to play. (Pickett’s) signing adds important depth to our group and will make us more competitive in 2026 and beyond.”
Pickett joins the Wave from Bay FC after two seasons and five years in the NWSL. In that time Pickett has made 68 regular season appearances 4,816 minutes. She has three goals and two assists during that time with one season in Kansas city and two with the North Carolina Courage before joining Bay FC.
The signing adds important depth to the Wave midfield that saw NWSL veteran, Savannah McCaskill, leave in the offseason after requesting a trade. Pickett primarily played as a defensive midfielder last season with Bay FC, but can also play as a fullback which the Wave will need in 2026.
The 26-year-old Stanford Cardinal alumnus continues a now five-year streak by the Wave in which they have signed a Stanford defender in the offseason joining Naomi Girma, Sierra Enge, Kennedy Wesley and Nya Harrison.
With the Cardinal Pickett appeared in 87 matches across four seasons, and won the NCAA Championship in 2017 and 2019. In her senior season Pickett earned conference honors like the Pac-12 defender of the year award, and a first team selection.
