Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua was unable to finish Tuesday’s joint practice against the Dallas Cowboys, but Sean McVay could not provide any updates on what caused the receiver to leave with training staff. McVay told reporters that he did not know yet what Nacua was dealing with, as Rams fans anxiously await an update into Tuesday night on last season’s third place finisher for Offensive Player of the Year.
Nacua is already facing a potential suspension at the start of the season, a storyline that was mentioned again by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday, as he reported that the NFL is looking into his offseason activities that created some negative press for the league and the team.
Nacua had an NFL-best 129 catches last season, gaining 1,715 yards in only 16 games.
He’s no stranger to injuries, something he dealt with throughout college and early in his NFL career. Nacua’s physical play style is both his greatest strength and one of his chief red flags when it comes to a long-term contract extension, which the Rams have yet to award him. It’s possible no deal comes until 2027, if ever.
Nacua left several Rams games last season with injury as well, heading to the locker room mid-game for various reasons, and he missed one contest as well. L.A.’s top receiver missed six games in 2024.
