The New York Jets are 2-6. Plenty of people have written in permanent marker that the Jets will inevitably be 2-8 if we fast-forward two weeks.
Up next is a road game against the Kansas City Chiefs and a home tilt versus the Buffalo Bills.
Don’t tell that noise to Jets starting quarterback Geno Smith.
“For me, again, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. It’s about what we think and what we believe. We believe we can get it done, so again, we know it’s in a tough environment; they’re a historically
great team, and they’ve done it at a high level for a long time, so we know we got our work cut out for us, but I believe in the guys in this locker room, I believe in our coaches, and I think right now we’re developing and putting together a plan to go out there and get it done.”
That’s the right mentality to have. If the Jets are going to upset the Chiefs, who are a 10-point favorite at home, they have to believe in themselves. The green and white have the pieces in place to pull off the upset. They have offensive pieces to be able to score points, but with how the Jets’ defense has performed, they might need to win this track meet 55-50.
