The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly trading Marvin Harrison Jr. to … a team that has yet to be named.
That team is NOT the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a report from PHNX’s Johnny Venerable.
Some community members here at BGN were wondering if the Eagles should be interested in bringing the Philly native and St. Joe’s Prep alumnus back home:
I’m not surprised to see the Eagles are not interested in MHJ. Yes, he was a really good college football player at Ohio State, which led to him being selected
with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
But the 24-year-old has struggled to live up to expectations as a professional, which is why the Cards are trading him. Perhaps a change of scenery will do him good. Perhaps not.
In any case, the cost to acquire MHJ is reportedly along the lines of “a second-round pick and a sweetener.” That’s not a cheap price, even with the Eagles having extra draft pick ammo in the aftermath of the Cam Jurgens trade.
The Eagles are seemingly hoping to get WR1 DeVonta Smith back from a hamstring injury next week. Dontayvion Wicks has been the Eagles’ top receiver in Smith’s absence and he looked good over the first two weeks. 2026 first-round pick Makai Lemon is going to continue to get playing time. Darius Cooper seems to be emerging.
Point being: the Eagles aren’t in a desperate spot to be the top bidder for MHJ, who just might not be as nearly good as people seem to think he is.
As it currently stands, the Houston Texans are the rumored landing spot for Harrison Jr. If that’s where he ends up, he’ll be reunited with his former college quarterback: C.J. Stroud.
