The Green Bay Packers’ defense had a marvelous performance in Week 5. The unit recorded nearly as many turnovers (five) as they allowed points in a 31-7 victory over the Chicago Bears. That team, which cycled through backup quarterbacks Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum, had put up 375 yards or more in its two games without Caleb Williams coming in, but they couldn’t cross the 250-yard mark against Green Bay.
This week, however, the Packers should have a tougher challenge on their hands. Chicago’s offense
centers on the run game, but the Dallas Cowboys, who come into Lambeau Field for Sunday Night Football, have been doing their work through the air. Dallas has one of the most efficient offense in football on a per-drive basis to this point in the season, and most of that is due to a passing game that features a top wideout tandem of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
The Packers have their own ascending receiver pairing, and although the Dallas duo are certainly more established, Christian Watson and Matthew Golden should have plenty of opportunities against a Dallas defense that ranks 31st in yards per pass attempt allowed. But on the other side of the ball Green Bay needs to find a way to limit Lamb and Pickens defensively. Lamb did not play in last year’s 40-40 tie at AT&T Stadium, but Pickens caught 8 passes for 134 yards and two scores.
Injuries could impact the Packers’ secondary this week as well, so let’s take a look at that as we slowly make our way towards Sunday Night Football.

Micah Parsons wants to ensure ‘all the small things fixed first’ before return | ESPNIt sounds like the big concern now before he can return is making sure that everything is balanced and he won’t be overcompensating for the recovering ACL with different muscles. That said, if it were playoff time, he said he’d be playing, so he’s hopefully getting close.
What do you think? Is the Cowboys’ terrible defense bad enough to let this running game finally get on track?
