The United States Women’s National Team roster was named yesterday, but they won’t be the only team that heads to Atlanta next week for training. Today, U.S. Soccer announced the 24-player U-23 women’s national team roster that will train alongside the USWNT next week and play two friendlies against the Dominican Republic U-23s.
U-23 WNT head coach Heather Dyche will convene the camp on October 5th at the National Training Center outside of Atlanta, where the team will train alongside the USWNT as
they both prepare for matches. It also gives USWNT head coach Emma Hayes an opportunity to evaluate the players as she continues her journey of synchronizing the various WNT programs under a common philosophy.
The 24-player roster:
Goalkeepers (2): Angelina Anderson (Angel City FC), Teagan Wy (Gotham FC)
Defenders (8): Jordyn Bugg (Seattle Reign), Carolyn Calzada (Portland Thorns), Kate Del Fava (Utah Royals), Heather Gilchrist (Bay FC), Savy King (Angel City FC), Leah Klenke (Houston Dash), Ayo Oke (Denver Summit), Jayden Perry (Portland Thorns)
Midfielders (6): Kimmi Ascanio (San Diego Wave), Gia Corley (San Diego Wave), Riley Jackson (North Carolina Courage), Ally Lemos (Orlando Pride), Ally Sentnor (Angel City FC), Jaedyn Shaw (Gotham FC)
Forwards (8): Melanie Barcenas (San Diego Wave), Maddie Dahlien (Seattle Reign), Jordynn Dudley (Gotham FC), Mia Fishel (Seattle Reign), Caiya Hanks (Portland Thorns), Jameese Joseph (Utah Royals), Karlie Lema (Bay FC), Kat Rader (Houston Dash)
The U-23 roster is exclusively made up of NWSL players, with eight players having senior WNT experience: Jaedyn Shaw (37), Ally Sentnor (23), Jordyn Bugg (6), Jameese Joseph (5), Maddie Dahlien (3), Mia Fishel (3), Riley Jackson (1) and Ayo Oke (1). Of those players, only Mia Fishel has not featured on the senior WNT in 2026. Angelina Anderson has also been called into a senior camp, though she has yet to receive a cap. Emma Hayes, explaining some of her roster decisions yesterday, indicated that she prefers some younger players on the fringe get playing minutes on the U-23s to continue their development rather than sit on the bench for the senior team.
“As I’ve said many times, I want to prioritize the development of players, and I don’t want less experienced players always sitting on the bench and playing few minutes,” Hayes said to the media. “So for Ally [Sentnor] and Jaedyn [Shaw], the decision was taken for them to go to the U-23s.”
“They understand the importance of their development. I will be able to watch what they do everyday here with the U-23s. And…I think they will still be two important players, but this has been part of their prescribed journey. And I don’t think there’s anything of this decision being a negative.”
The U-23 WNT will play two matches during the international window, both against the Dominican Republic U-23s at the National Training Center. The first will be on October 9th at 5:30pm ET, with the second coming on October 13th at 12:00pm ET. It will be a chance for players to receive some minutes and still have an opportunity to show that they should be in the plans for the USWNT.
