Football:
During a press conference yesterday Mike Norvell confirmed that he would resume play-calling duties following the sudden but not entirely unexpected retirement of Gus Malzahn.
All other aspects of the offensive coordinator position will be manned by the newly promoted WR coach/Offensive
Coordinator Tim Harris, Jr.
My initial reaction to this is to now go with a truly wide-open QB competition where Ashton Daniels was the presumed starter prior to this news. Style wise, JUCO QB Malachi Marshall might be the best fit for what Mike Norvell typically wants to do on offense but unfortunately he will not enroll until the summer.
Rumors had been percolating that Malzahn was going to retire after 2025 but he seemingly changed his mind after working through Early Signing Day and the transfer portal period only to make the announcement yesterday morning.
