Steelers offensive tackle Broderick Jones spoke to the media during OTAs Wednesday, providing some clarity — but not much — regarding a neck injury that’s made him limited to start the 2026 offseason.
“I really don’t have a timeline, they never gave me a timeline,” Jones said via the Pat McAfee show’s Mark Kaboly when asked about how he is progressing, “Just monitoring it day by day, and we go from there.”
Still, day by day sounds encouraging given Jones’ situation:
He suffered a neck injury in Week 12 of 2025 that led to offseason spinal fusion surgery and reported setback in April.
Jones said he has been participating in some individual activities but has been held out of team drills. The Steelers’ starting tackles to open OTAs have been Troy Fautanu at left tackle and Dylan Cook on the right.
Pittsburgh also selected Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor in the first round of the 2026 draft, something Jones said he didn’t take personally, per Steelers Now’s Brendan Howe.
“Recovery is good. I feel fine, just getting back to it,” he said, via Howe.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Christopher Carter posted that Jones said that he’s preparing to play both left and right tackle once he returns. Jones switched from right to left tackle — his college position — for the Steelers in 2025.
