What is the story about?
In what felt like a do-or-die moment for the Kansas City Chiefs
in the fourth quarter of Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders, quarterback Patrick Mahomes launched a deep pass to wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, who heroically stretched out for it and kept running down the left sideline. It was his fifth catch of the day — two of them touchdowns — and he accumulated 111 yards. As he got up to celebrate, Thornton noticed something wrong with his left lower leg. The highlight play turned into a somber,
unfortunate moment for the 26-year-old receiver having a career day. A brief replay is available here.
After some time on the field, Thornton was carted off the field following the game-changing 55-yard play. The Chiefs’ offense followed up Thornton’s effort with two touchdowns by running back Kenneth Walker, quickly extending the lead to 30-19.
We will update this article with more information on the severity of Thornton’s injury as it becomes available after the game.
