The New Orleans Saints are hitting the road again as they prepare to visit the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. After last week’s close call, maybe we should be adding the third possibility of a tie! But regardless, here’s a quick look at what either outcome might mean for the black and gold in Week 2.
If the Saints win:
Even more so than against Detroit, a win here would be a massive statement by Kellen Moore’s squad. As 7.5-point underdogs, New Orleans has one of the biggest handicaps across the league this week. That
line has moved down from 8.5, perhaps a sign that bettors like the Saints here after their heroic comeback effort fell just short last week.
The second half against Detroit showed everything people have been hoping for from the black and gold, with a defense able to get off the field on third down and an offense that can threaten both on the ground and through the air.
The Saints will need an effective 60 minutes on both sides of the football against a Ravens team that scored at will against the Colts in Week 1. Should they beat Baltimore, it would be both emphatic and more than deserved to come back to New Orleans with a .500 record after a bit of controversy got in the way of a win in Detroit.
If the Saints lose:
This pair of road games to open the season were always going to be difficult for the black and gold. To end up 0-2 would be disappointing, but wouldn’t necessarily define the way the season might pan out.
Moore will hope, regardless of the outcome, that the Saints look more in Baltimore like they did in the second half of the season opener than the first. Building on their momentum is crucial ahead of the winnable stretch of games to come.
