The Washington Spirit announced today that the club and midfielder Leicy Santos have agreed to a new contract keeping the Colombian international with the Spirit through the 2027 season. Santos’ initial contract with the club was set to expire at the end of the 2026 season.
“DC has become home for me and I’m very happy to be extending my time with the Spirit and to play in front of our fans for another season,” said Santos. “I have grown so much in my game across these past two years at the club as we
built a strong foundation for success here. Let’s finish this season strong!”
Since joining the Spirit in 2024, Santos has scored nine goals and assisted 10 more across all competitions, including three direct free kick goals.
“Leicy has provided tremendous quality and experience in our midfield since joining the Spirit in 2024,” said Sporting Director James Hocken. “We are excited to have her with the team another year.”
The Washington Spirit next play the Chicago Stars away from home on Sunday, September 20th at 5 PM ET, broadcast nationally on ESPN.
