Mick Foley, who is recognized by many as one of the more politically progressive members of the wrestling community, took to social media on Tuesday to share some of his feelings about the midterm elections. That included a message to his former colleagues at WWE who have a “personal relationship” with President Donald Trump.
As those following the election results know, Democratic candidates rode a massive blue wave to win control of Congress in what is seen as a rebuke of Trump’s policies.
Although
a registered independent, Foley frequently gives public support to Democratic officials, and he has been extremely vocal in objecting to Trump. The wrestling legend has also beenparticularly outspoken in his opposition to the tactics used by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency under the current administration.
As a result of this stance, Foley announced in December 2025 that he was parting ways with WWE due to the company’s relationship with Trump and later signed a deal with AEW.
People critical of WWE’s political associations have pointed out that former WWE boss Vince McMahon has been close with Trump for decades, while Vince’s wife (and former WWE executive), Linda McMahon, serves as Trump’s secretary of education.
Meanwhile, Vince’s son-in-law and WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque is on a committee promoting fitness and nutrition in Trump’s White House. Others in WWE who have publicly supported Trump include The Undertaker and Roman Reigns.
On Tuesday night, Foley attempted to appeal to those within WWE who have ties with Trump.
“Should things not go their way, I truly hope some of my @wwe colleagues who have a personal relationship with the president will put country over party and speak up for the sake of democracy,” the WWE Hall of Famer wrote in his Instagram Stories.
Hours later, Foley celebrated the wins of liberal candidates while making another call for the country to come together.
“Very happy with tonight’s results,” he posted. “We have so much more in common that unites us than divides us.”
