Lennart Karl started the season in terrible form and was in the crosshairs of every single Bayern Munich fan, but the 18-year-old appears to have turned a corner with decent performances against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and now a hard-fought 2-1 win against Mainz.
“I think, as a professional footballer, you simply have to be able to deal with things like that,” Karl’s teammate Aleksandar Pavlović said after the Mainz game (via @iMiaSanMia). “I don’t think he pays too much attention
to what’s going on outside. He just gets on with things and plays his football. I’m obviously delighted that he scored today as well.”
Despite being undefeated this season so far, Bayern has not been playing at its highest level. This is a time when the team must rally together and put in a shift to get results. For Karl, he’s done exactly that and wants to remind us why he was the breakout star of last season for Bayern.
