Rather than sit idly and wait for John Harbaugh to make a decision on whether or not he will be their next head coach, the New York Giants are continuing to add to an already-lengthy list of potential alternatives.
The latest name to join that list is highly-regarded Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. Per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Giants have requested an interview with Minter. In fact, all eight teams with openings — the Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans,
Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, and Cleveland Browns — have requested interviews with Minter. He is interviewing with the Titans and Cardinals on Tuesday.
The Giants have interviewed or requested to interview a lengthy list of candidates:
- Mike Kafka (Completed)
- Kevin Stefanski (Completed)
- Raheem Morris (Completed)
- Antonio Pierce (Completed)
- Vance Joseph (Completed — Virtual)
- Darren Rizzi (Completed)
- Klint Kubiak (Completed — Virtual)

- Jesse Minter (Requested)
The 42-year-old Minter began his NFL coaching career under John Harbaugh with the Baltimore Ravens from 2017-2020. He was defensive coordinator at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh in 2022 and 2023, and followed him to the Chargers in 2024.
