Last year’s meeting between the New England Patriots and the Las Vegas Raiders at Gillette Stadium was a wet affair. There is a chance this week’s game between the two clubs is as well, but it does not seem particularly likely.
According to NFL Weather, there is a “slight chance of rain showers” throughout the contest on Sunday. That chance, however, has been calculated at a minuscule 2%. More likely, the game will be played under consistent cloud cover and with temperatures in the low 60s; wind should
not be a major factor despite gusts of up to 15 mph being possible.
The National Weather Service shares a similar projection. According to its models, Sunday will be “mostly cloudy, with a high near 64” and rain showers only expected to happen after 7 p.m. ET.
Long story short, as far as October football is concerned those are pretty standard conditions that should not negatively impact the game. For the Patriots, who have struggled with ball security and will be going up against the league leaders in takeaways this week, this can be seen as positive news.
The Week 5 game between the Patriots and Raiders at Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. ET.
