The Colorado Rockies finished their week on a high note: a much needed home victory against their dreaded National League West big brother in the Los Angeles Dodgers. A well pitched and hard fought game from the Rockies sent the folks in Dodger blue home disappointed on Hello Kitty night of all nights.
The week didn’t start out in a promising fashion. A Sunday afternoon loss completed a sweep against the San Diego Padres and the Rockies quickly dropped two of three games against the Houston Astros
in Texas. However, the Rockies never gave up. The games continued to be largely close and the Rockies managed a victory against the Astros before heading home for their next home stand.
For a Rockies squad that is here for the climb, the name of the game may be progress but every win counts. With wins no. 7 and no. 8 this week, the Rockies are a full month ahead of where they were at in 2025. Last season the Rockies didn’t win their seventh game until May 11th, after which manager Bud Black was fired. They didn’t win their eighth game until May 17th.
The win against the Dodgers is also somewhat of a milestone. In 2025 the Rockies didn’t have their first win against the powerhouse Dodgers until August.
It’s more and more evident with each passing game: the Rockies may not be a good team yet, but they are so much better than they were in 2025. The games are watchable, the results are generally close, and the players—Troy Johnston especially—seem to be having fun.
These is the 2026 Colorado Rockies we signed up for.

Weekend Discussion Topics
Two of the biggest contributors to the Rockies’ success so far have been pitchers Antonio Senzatela an Chase Dollander. The two former starters have been operating as bulk relievers and performing well. At this point in the season, would you move them to the rotation, or would you continue with the arrangement that seems to be working well? Who else do you think have been key contributors so far this season? Let us know in the comments!
