Bayern Munich’s midweek woes continued on the weekend, as the Rekordmeister struggled in the weekend Bundesliga fixture too.
Following the 3-2 win against SV Wehen Wiesbaden, it was evident the kind of mistakes the team were making and how costly they’d prove to be. In the weekend away fixture at FC Augsburg, Bayern yet again had to win by a narrow margin.
There are several players whose performances are concerning, and among them is Sacha Boey. The young defender has been far too error-prone in his
limited appearances. He does not offer any overt offensive threat either, making his addition to the lineup a cause for concern.
In the 96th minute, the defender got into an ugly collision with Augsburg winger Robin Fellhauer in his own half. He was promptly carded for the same, and the winger underwent a few minutes of evaluation to rule out a head injury.
Following the game, Boey took to Instagram (per @iMiaSanMia), to apologise to Fellhauer. “Sorry again for what happened and get well soon,” wrote the defender on an Instagram story. The official Bayern account on X too also delivered an apology to the player.
We wish Robin a speedy recovery.
Amid all of the transfer craziness surrounding Bayern Munich’s work with Chelsea over a loan deal for Nicolas Jackson, there was an actual game to be played — and Bayern Munich was up to the task even if a slow start and a midgame loss of focus might have given Die Fuggerstädter some hope.
