Things have gone from bad to worse for Gian Piero Gasperini and Roma over the past two weeks. After reeling off a pair of 2-0 wins over Stuttgart and Torino in late January, the Giallorossi have dropped
points in their past three matches: draws with Udinese and Panathianakos and last Monday’s loss to Udinese. As a result, not only did Roma lose their grip on third place, but they’ve fallen down to fifth. And as if that weren’t bad enough, Gasperini cast doubt on his suitability for the job after the club’s 1-0 loss to Udinese, claiming that if the club doesn’t qualify for the Champions League next season, perhaps Roma will need a managerial change.
All in all, that’s par for the course with Roma, but it creates unnecessary noise ahead of today’s critical matchup against Cagliari. The capital club got a helping hand from Lazio over the weekend, who drew Juventus on Sunday evenining, meaning Roma can pull even with the Old Lady in fourth place (on points) with a win over Cagliari today at the Olimpico.
We’ll post the lineups as soon as we can. In the meantime, give us your predictions for today’s match!
