According to a report from Transfermarkt’s Thomas Deterding (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich want to extend the German-American goalkeeper’s contract beyond 2027, with talks already underway. However, his long-term future remains uncertain, as the path to regular first-team football in Munich could prove difficult.
Standing 1.98 meters tall, Prescott is considered a promising young talent. But with 23-year-old Jonas Urbig expected to become Bayern Munich’s long-term No. 1, the teenager
may have to look elsewhere for consistent playing time and further development.
There is also an international decision to consider. The United States Soccer Federation is reportedly courting Prescott — who was born in New York — and has indicated that he could have a clear route toward becoming the USMNT’s starting goalkeeper ahead of the 2030 World Cup if his development continues on its current trajectory. From a club standpoint, Chelsea, Juventus, and several Bundesliga teams are said to be monitoring the situation.
FC Bayern will undoubtedly want to keep hold of such a talented prospect, but convincing Prescott that his future is best served in Munich could prove challenging if opportunities remain limited.
