A flurry of reports late on Monday, July 6, made it clear that Bayern Munich’s Alexander Nübel was on the verge of joining Beşiktaş after five consecutive years out on loan. There was the concern that the move could fall apart within a few hours due to differences on a compensation package, but Florian Plettenberg reports that these differences have been resolved:
Alexander Nübel to Besiktas – DONE DEAL.
Full agreement has now been reached between all parties, including Nübel, his agents and FC Bayern.
Transfer fee: €6.5m fixed plus €5m in add-ons. Following his medical, Nübel will sign a contract until 2029 and earn more than €5m net per season. Bayern chapter is finally over. A new Süper Liga chapter begins. Strongly wanted by the Besiktas board and director Eduard Graf.
Long time goalkeeper and captain Mert Günok left Beşiktaş for Fenerbahçe in January 2026, leaving the duties of first choice goalkeeper to Ersin Destanoğlu. But the latter himself only stayed 6 more months before departing, leaving Beşiktaş with just a few young and inexperienced goalkeepers. The Turkish giants desperately needed a replacement and have found it in Nübel, parting with a lot of money in wages for the German goalkeeper.
Nübel will finally find a permanent home in Turkey and will get the chance to qualify for the Europa League next season.
Meanwhile, Bayern finally manage to get Nübel’s wages off their books after footing the majority of his wages during his loan spells in Stuttgart and even get a transfer fee, to boot. There is no mention of the compensation package, so chances are good that it is either low or non-existent.
