Good morning.
Shawn McFarland is contractually obligated to type words about the unproductive Texas Rangers offense for the several hundredth time as he checks in on how the club has performed recently.
But now McFarland is also forced to write about the defense letting the Rangers down more often this season, as it did in their loss on Sunday.
But, as MLB dot com’s Steve Kornacki writes, at least the Texas bullpen is performing way beyond expectations.
McFarland writes about Josh Smith lauding manager
Skip Schumaker’s ability to communicate during a slump.
Zach Crizer writes that, aside from trying to unlock a lineup that has been like this for three years, Schumaker’s first real challenge will be finding the right spot for Jacob Latz long term.
McFarland notes that reliever Chris Martin is throwing again after a rough April that landed him on the injured list.
And, ESPN’s David Schoenfield hands out some first month grades.
Have a nice day!
