Ever since the Blue-White game on Friday night, there has been one question circulating the fan base: How bad was the injury to Jaland Lowe’s shoulder?
Luckily, over the last few days, it has started to trickle out that Lowe’s injury doesn’t appear to be anything long-term. On Thursday, the latest on Lowe’s status was one of the first questions Mark Pope was asked in his pre-Purdue press conference.
According to Pope, Lowe is already shooting full speed at practice, but he will likely be held out for
at least another week to ensure the injury fully heals, so don’t expect him to play Friday vs. Purdue.
“His recovery’s been epically fast. He’s feeling really good. He was back shooting yesterday full speed,” said Pope. “We’ll probably keep him out of live contact for at least another week, just to make sure. He’s a massively important part of this season, so we’re gonna make sure that he’s healthy before he’s rolling out.”
It is no secret that Lowe is incredibly important to this roster as they push to win a national championship this season. Thankfully, it sounds like the Cats’ starting point guard could be back sooner rather than later to help push towards that goal.
On the bright side, we will have the opportunity to see Denzel Aberdeen, Jasper Johnson, and Collin Chandler all get their chances to run point and earn minutes in the backup point guard role.
I know we all wanted a healthy roster for the matchup with the Boilermakers on Friday night, but it just gives us an excuse to go even crazier if they pull off the win in Rupp.
