College basketball analyst Bart Torvik has released his early projections for the 2026–27 season, and the outlook for Kentucky remains uncertain.
Despite an incomplete roster, Kentucky currently sits at No. 45 nationally in Torvik’s rankings, with a projected No. 12 finish in the Southeastern Conference. The Wildcats trail several conference rivals, including Arkansas (No. 5), Florida (No. 6), Texas (No. 12), Alabama (No. 18), Tennessee (No. 22), Vanderbilt (No. 23), Georgia (No. 29), Missouri (No. 37),
Auburn (No. 39), Oklahoma (No. 40), and Texas A&M (No. 41).
The projections come as Kentucky continues to reshape its roster under head coach Mark Pope. The Wildcats recently missed out on the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 class, Tyran Stokes, leaving many to wonder if another impact addition is still to come.
According to Torvik’s model, point guard Zoom Diallo is expected to be Kentucky’s top contributor, followed by big man Malachi Moreno and shooting guard Alex Wilkins. Jerone Morton slots in fourth, ahead of Kam Williams and Justin McBride, while younger pieces round out the rotation.
Notably, international addition Ousmane N’Diaye is not yet included in the system, which could impact the projections.
Overall, Kentucky ranks No. 44 in offense and No. 50 in defense in Torvik’s metrics. With three roster spots still open, the Wildcats may need a significant late addition to climb the rankings before the season begins.
