The first in-season MAC coaching change was implemented Monday. The Bowling Green Falcons parted ways with offensive coordinator Travis Partridge.
“Unfortunately, our offensive performance is not achieving
expectations,” Bowling Green head coach Eddie George said in a statement published by Bowling Green. “We want to thank Travis for his contributions to the Bowling Green program.”
Bowling Green currently ranks 126th in the FBS in scoring at 18.2 points per game and 126th in offensive production. The passing game, which averages 158 yards per game with more interceptions than touchdowns, has particularly been a struggle. Injuries have caused Bowling Green to cycle through four different quarterbacks this year, including three different starters. Primary starter Drew Pyne returned from an ankle injury last Saturday against Buffalo after last fielding a snap on Sept. 27.
Despite Pyne’s return, Bowling Green’s offense managed 216 total yards in a 28-3 defeat, sinking a 51-yard field goal with 8:33 remaining to prevent a shutout. The Falcons ride a 3-game losing streak and haven’t scored a touchdown in two-straight home games, also dropping a 27-6 decision to Central Michigan on Oct. 18.
In 18 halves this year, Bowling Green has gone seven without scoring a touchdown. The Falcons are tied for 11th in the FBS in punts and rank sixth-to-last in fourth down conversion rate, reaching the sticks on 4-of-15 attempts in 2025.
Partridge was in his first season as Bowling Green’s offensive coordinator, following George from his previous stop of Tennessee State at the FCS level. Prior to Bowling Green, the former Missouri Western quarterback’s only other FBS coaching gig was an offensive quality control coach at Kansas from 2019-21.
Although not officially declared, co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Greg Nosal is a candidate to take over play-calling duties for the final three games of the regular season. Bowling Green travels to Eastern Michigan on Saturday before concluding with Akron and UMass in the midweek slate. The Falcons must clear all three opponents to qualify for a fourth-straight season of bowl eligibility.
