The Golden State Warriors suffered their first loss of the season on Friday night, losing 139-119 to an energetic and athletic Portland Trail Blazers squad. It was a pretty ugly loss, but not all that surprising following Thursday’s exhausting overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets.
Win or loss, it’s always fun to see how Dub Nation reacts to games. So here’s a look at the live reactions to the action, as seen through comments from the Golden State of Mind game thread.
First quarter: ‘Mostly Steph doing the scoring’
Steph Curry got out to a nice
start in the first, and the Dubs jumped out to a quick lead. Portland immediately responded though, and the teams were tied at the end of the quarter.
Second quarter: ‘What a dunk’
It was a disaster of a second quarter, but Jonathan Kuminga did offer up the highlight of the young season with a spectacular dunk. The Warriors were down big at halftime, though.
Third quarter: ‘No rim protection’
The Warriors showed life in the third quarter, but it only took them so far. Portland was getting any and everything at the rim, living on a steady diet of layups. The score was teetering on a blowout at the end of the quarter.
Fourth quarter: ‘Too many turnovers’
Any hope of getting back into the game in the fourth was quickly erased when the Warriors started the quarter with countless turnovers. Steve Kerr waved the white flag with about nine minutes remaining, and the Dubs would lose by 20.
