The Kentucky Wildcats baseball team is on the brink of finishing up their regular season campaign. They only have two SEC series remaining for the season, as they’ll play Florida and Arkansas, with a midweek game against Northern Kentucky on the schedule.
In On3 analyst Jonathan Wagner’s latest NCAA Tournament projection, the Wildcats are now off the bubble and projected safely inside the tournament. Wagner has the Cats as the 3-seed in the Tallahassee Regional, with Florida State as the host. Oregon
and North Florida round out the four teams in the projection.
Kentucky wasn’t even listed among the last four in following their weekend series win over a top-25 Tennessee team.
The Wildcats are currently 29-16 on the season and 11-13 in SEC play. Nick Mingione’s ball club has had to overcome some injuries on the mound and with the position group as the season has come along, but they’re trending upwards as postseason play looms closely.
The Wildcats will wrap up their regular season on May 16th as they face the Razorbacks for the first time this season. It’ll be a three-game series at Kentucky Proud Park in Lexington.
After that, the Wildcats will head to Hoover, Alabama, as the conference tournament will take place from May 19-24.
