The Giants OTAs are underway, but things aren’t smooth sailing for the NFC East team, who learned veteran DL Roy Robertson-Harris will now miss the 2026 season, Malik Nabers won’t be back anytime soon, and they’re stuck with their GM for the foreseeable future.
DL Roy Robertson-Harris tears Achilles
The Giants defensive line continues to evolve this offseason, and they’ll now be without their veteran DL Roy Robertson-Harris, who tore his Achilles on Thursday during an OTA workout, according to ESPN.
The defensive lineman is now expected to miss the entire 2026 season, which is bad news for a group that also lost Dexter Lawrence to a trade a couple months ago.
Malik Nabers injury update
The Giants top receiver tore his ACL last September and missed most of the 2025 season. Despite what was already a long recovery, Malik Nabers required a second procedure recently to clean up some scar tissue that had been causing stiffness.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh spoke to reporters and said that Nabers’ return is impossible to predict, but the hope is that he’ll be able to play Week 1, and maybe even get some time in training camp. Still, he noted that Nabers isn’t dealing with a simple knee injury, and is working through his rehab.
GM Joe Schoen signs extension
When the Giants hired John Harbaugh this offseason, the new head coach wanted, and received, control and autonomy, which includes not directly reporting to GM Joe Schoen. As the team agreed to hand over control to Harbaugh, Schoen’s future in New York seemed unclear, however the team committed to their General Manager with a new multi-year deal.
This is obviously great news for Eagles fans, as the best way to keep the Giants inept, is to keep Joe Schoen involved with the team. Harbaugh has already made huge changes to shift the culture to a more winning one, but Schoen should be able to counter-balance Harbaugh’s unfortunate competence.
