Barcelona smashed seven goals past Newcastle on Wednesday night in the Champions League in a game that saw several players hit impressive landmarks.
Lamine Yamal scored again versus the Magpies to break another Kylian Mbappe record and make it into double figures in the Champions League. He’s the youngest player ever to achieve that landmark at the age of just 18 years and 248 days,
Fermin Lopez is also into double figures in the Champions League. The Barcelona star grabbed a goal and an assist against Newcastle and has now been involved in 10 goals in the Champions League this season (six goals and four assists).
According to Opta, he’s the first Spanish Barcelona player to reach double figures in a single edition of the competition
And then there’s Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international scored two goals against Newcastle, meaning he’s the oldest player to bag a brace in the Champions League.
Barcelona’s win was the third time they have scored seven goals in the Champions League. The Catalans have also hit the landmark previously against Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Celtic. Hansi Flick’s side now go on to face Atletico in the quarter-finals.
