Although Duke and more importantly Miami fans have high expectations for Jai Lucas,it’s impossible to know just how the former Duke assistant will do as the ‘Canes head coach. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.
So far though, he’s managed to put together a solid roster for this season and seems to be recruiting well, which he certainly did at Kentucky and Duke.
However, no one gets everyone they
want and that may have happened with Miami as the #1 point guard in the country, Tay Kinney, has canceled a visit to Miami (he also canceled one to Texas).
It would be a major statement for Lucas to pull that off but realistically, that would be tough to do before he ever coached a game. NIL has changed the game, but you still have show some chops.
Assuming that he doesn’t reschedule those two visits, Kinney is still considering Louisville, Oregon, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky and Arkansas.
