With the new season starting soon let’s take a look at what Mexican internationals have been up to!
MLS
Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano – LA Galaxy
After months without activity due to behind the scenes issues with San Diego, the Mexican international has signed with the LA Galaxy.
Hector Herrera – Houston Dynamo
Has continued to play with MLS side the Dynamo even though he has taken more of a reduced role with the team.
Eredivisie
Mateo Chavez – AZ
Alkmaar
The season has already started in the Netherlands but just earlier this month Chavez won his second trophy in Europe.
Stephano Carrillo – Youth Division – Feyenoord
Is currently playing with the U21 team as the youngster continues to develop and hopefully make the senior team.
Premier League
Julian Araujo – AFC Bournemouth
Earlier this month Araujo had a successful surgery on his left thigh.
EFL Championship
Raul Jimenez – Wolverhampton Wanderers
After his time with Fulham ended, Jimenez made his way back to Wolverhampton to help his former team make their way back to the first division.
Edson Alvarez – West Ham United
The Mexican captain made his way back to England where he will be helping West Ham make their way back to the first division.
LaLiga
Alvaro Fidalgo – Real Betis
The new LaLiga season begins this weekend. Hopefully Fidalgo is able to secure his place in the starting lineup after a rough patch with few minutes.
Obed Vargas – Atlético de Madrid
The new season is slated to begin this weekend and Vargas will need to fight to win a starting role in Diego Simeone’s starting XI.
Super League Greece 1
Orbelin Pineda
After years abroad, Pineda made the decision to return to Mexico to play with Monterrey.
Jorge Sanchez
After a second stint abroad, the defender has made his way back to Liga MX. This surprising move has led some to believe he only went to Europe in order to make the roster for the World Cup.
Serie A
Johan Vasquez – Genoa
Vasquez remains in preseason with Genoa as the new season does not kickoff until next weekend.
Santiago Gimenez – AC Milan
Since Gimenez landed in Italy, it has been a rollercoaster of a season. Reports show that the youngster is likely to make a move to Porto where he has a high chance of regaining his form.
Russian Premier League
Luis Chavez – Dynamo Moscow
The season has already begun but it has not been the best for Chavez who currently rides the bench.
Cesar Montes – Lokomotiv Moscow
The new season is underway but that has not stopped rumors arising that the defender may make his way back to Mexico.
Super Liga
Rodrigo Huescas – FC Copenhagen
The youngster remains in recuperation from a torn ACL but all signs point to a return real soon. Off the field, it looks like the courts ruled in Huesas’ favor after his former club sued the player for “breach of contract” even though the player left Mexico through the legal channels. Cruz Azul will need to pay back Huescas $300,000 USD or face a three transfer window ban.
Cypriot First Division
Guillermo Ochoa
The goalkeeper has called it quits after a successful 22 year football career.
Scottish Premiership
Aldahir Valenzuela – Dundee FC
Returned to Monterrey after a few months on loan.
Saudi Pro League
Julian Quiñones – Al Qadsiah FC
The new season has begun and Quiñones is ready to pick up where he left off last season.
Belgian Pro League
Cesar Huerta – Anderlecht
Has yet to make his debut for the team this new season.
Heriberto Jurado – Cercle Brugge
Played significant minutes throughout the preseason so hopefully this is a sign that he will play a significant role throughout the regular season.
