On Saturday Night, ESPN announced that College GameDay would be heading to Miami for Week 4’s rivalry game between the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Gators.
This is the 1st Canes game that will have the GameDay treatment this year, but potentially not the last. With a resurgent
Florida State, and other marquee games on the schedule, I expect Miami to be featured a couple more times this season on the iconic pregame show.
This is a good and wise choice for the iconic pre-game show. Even with Florida stumbling in at 1-2, this is a major rivalry, a top 5 team, and the best narrative matchup of the weekend.
This is the 2nd time GameDay will be hosted on Miami’s campus. The last time was in 2017 when Drake was shooting a music video, Jarren Williams was on an Official Visit, and Miami beat the dogshit out of Notre Dame 41-8.
Lastly, but very much worth noting: GameDay’s episodes featuring Miami, even last year’s game at Cal, which got GameDay, have been among the highest rated episodes of GameDay in a given season. ESPN is in the business of making money, and getting ratings is a great way to do that. So, the clear choice is to include Miami in the show and reap the benefits of the Canes’ national brand yet again.
For anybody travelling to Charlotte, stop by GameDay! IT’S A PARTY!!!
