🏀 The Big Story
Illinois basketball’s recruiting momentum keeps rolling. Five-star 2027 wing Moussa Kamissoko has scheduled an official visit to Champaign, giving Brad Underwood and the Illini their third confirmed five-star visitor in the 2027 class. Kamissoko is ranked No. 5 nationally at his position.
Illinois also added another piece to its 2027 class recently with the commitment of four-star Neuqua Valley guard Mason Martin. TCR’s Traeh Kissack examined
what Martin’s commitment could mean for the Illini’s renewed push to keep top Illinois talent home.
⚽ Soccer
The Illini played to a scoreless draw with UIC on Sunday at Demirjian Park. Illinois is now 1-0-2 on the season after opening with a draw against No. 19 Georgia and a 2-1 comeback win over Cincinnati.
The Illini return Thursday against Saint Louis at 6 p.m. CT.
🏈 Football
Illinois enters its final full week of the offseason with some roster questions still to be settled. Bret Bielema is continuing to monitor potential additions, and we’re also keeping an eye on former Illini Hank Beatty and Melvin Priestly, both of whom are currently competing for NFL roster spots.
The Illini open the season Sept. 3 against UAB.
🏐 Volleyball
Volleyball season is almost here. Illinois opens its 2026 campaign Friday against Cincinnati at Huff Hall at 7 p.m. CT.
Syracuse follows Sunday at noon before the Illini travel to Tennessee on Sept. 1.
