Barcelona star Ferran Torres says Spain shouldn’t hold Lamine Yamal back ahead of their first World Cup game on Monday against Cape Verde.
Yamal is potentially set to return from injury in the game, although it’s still not clear if he will have minutes or be held in reserve by Luis de la Fuente.
Ferran has been asked about his team-mate and says he’s in great shape currently.
“He’s doing very well, I think he’s practically at 100%, which is a joy. He’s a very important player for us,” he told La Vanguardia.
Torres was then asked if Spain could be careful with Yamal and hold him back, replying: “We shouldn’t hold him back. He’s 18 years old and has tons of energy. We have to let him flow, which is one of his strengths.”
The decision on whether Yamal starts, plays or is held in reserve is now down to De la Fuente.
