Madrid getting more serious on Upamecano? (ESPN)
If Bayern Munich does not act soon, it could be putting its future with Dayot Upamecano in jeopardy.
As has been rumored, Real Madrid might be lining up a move for Upamecano:
A move for Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano is being lined up by Real Madrid, according to Bild. Los Blancos are interested in signing the 26-year-old, who entered the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena in the summer, as they continue to identify future options to reinforce their defence. The Bundesliga champions
are expected to prioritise signing Upamecano to a new deal by beginning negotiations soon. Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reports that the LaLiga club are also looking at Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté. The Reds are yet to secure the 26-year-old’s future at Anfield beyond the summer of 2026, and after Real Madrid made an enquiry in the summer, they are prepared to make another move if an opportunity arises to sign him as a free agent.
Bayern Munich and Upamecano are slated to resume talks, but time could be of the essence. If this lingers to January, we could see Real Madrid act quickly and put a pre-contract in place.
Bayern planning Olise extension? (CaughtOffside)
With Michael Olise’s star exploding and clubs like Liverpool already lurking about, Bayern Munich is reportedly thinking of giving the Frenchman a lucrative contract extension:
One of Bayern Munich’s best players is attracting attention from Liverpool. The German champions have some of the best talent in world football and that is why they are considered a strong force and one of the best teams in European football.
The Premier League giants reportedly see him as a long term replacement of Mohamed Salah. Although Salah is not leaving the Reds any time soon, the Merseyside club are preparing for a long term plan to replace Salah.
According to TBR Football, Bayern are preparing to wrap up a contract extension for Olise by the end of the season. As part of their plan, the Bundesliga giants are ready to offer him a significant pay rise, aimed squarely at keeping the 23-year-old winger away from the attentions of Premier League giants.
Bayern have ensured that Olise’s contract includes no release clause, effectively ruling out a lucrative pay-off pass to any interested parties.
Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 8, Episode 9 (Bavarian Football Works)
Bayern Munich is back in action this week and a tough slate of games lies ahead. Before we tackle all of that, though, there is much to unpack from Germany’s international break and the explosive performance from Uli Hoeneß on SPORT1-Doppelpass over the weekend.
Let’s get into all of that more on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show! This is what we have on tap:
- Let’s talk about the good, the bad, and ugly from Germany’s international break performances vs. Slovakia and Northern Ireland.
- Julian Nagelsmann is in a make-or-break period with Germany.
- Does the DFB need to think about bringing in Jürgen Klopp to overhaul the entire organization.
- Uli Hoeneß says Bayern Munich was the real winner of the transfer window and that Nicolas Jackson needs to get 40 starts for the obligation to buy clause to activate.
- Chuck quickly addresses Philadelphia’s return to the spotlight (for all of the wrong reasons).
- It’s time to turn focus back to Bayern Munich.
Jackson’s agent unhappy with Hoeness (football.london)
On Sunday, Bayern Munich supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß might have inadvertently sparked a war with the agent for Nicolas Jackson.
As Hoeneß broke down why Bayern Munich “won” the transfer window, he detailed the intricacies of the deal with Chelsea, which might not exactly paint Jackson and his camp in the best light. Needless to say, Diomansy Kamara had a response to those comments:
The 73-year-old’s comment clearly didn’t go down too well with Kamara. On Instagram, a few hours later, Jackson’s advisor wrote: “Many speak, but few tell the truth. That’s not the topic today. Our only priority is Senegal’s decisive match for World Cup qualification.
“This is a crucial moment for the entire nation. Our journey, our ethics, and our way of working are well known: first as footballers and now as advisors to African players. It’s time for a united front. The rest will be dealt with later, at the appropriate time. End of story.”
Rummenigge says they only use veto power to prevent mistakes (Welt am Sonntag via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich’s summer seems to have been defined by a lack of alignment throughout the organization. For supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the power his unit has to veto moves is only used to prevent the club from making big mistakes.
“We’ve spent a lot of money in recent years. This has led to FC Bayern now having to watch its money a bit. We never had to do that for over a decade. We’ve always achieved record revenues and were even able to report a profit during the pandemic. Uli and I don’t want to interfere in the operational area. We just want to prevent mistakes. Because mistakes—especially in the financial area—can have enormous consequences today. The position FC Bayern has achieved over the past 50 years is not set in stone,” Rummenigge stated.
Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Germany 3-1 Northern Ireland (Bavarian Football Works)
Wow…Germany was on the ropes vs. Northern Ireland, but a strong second half effort helped Julian Nagelsmann’s team pull away for a 3-1 victory.
It was ugly at times and desperate at others, but this was somehow a must win match for a squad that was absolutely reeling after getting stomped out by Slovakia earlier in the week. The Germans absolutely needed this victory and it could have been disastrous had things not turned around in the latter stages of the game.
Let’s get into it. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
- A look at the starting XI.
- A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
- Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match.
Díaz talks hometown attitude (Bundesliga.com via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich winger Luis Díaz credit his hometown Barrancas for his mentality.
“The mentality there is very much that of a hard worker, a fighter, because lots of people don’t have opportunities to move away and pursue their dreams or make them happen,” Díaz said. “But I feel they’re always happy people who always have a smile on their face. They always try to endure and be happy with everything, to feel comfortable, to try and get ahead through work, to get by with what little they have. I think that’s a bit of what I carry with me from my hometown.
I always try to be happy, always try to enjoy the moment, to work really hard, which is the most important thing for someone trying to get ahead – to work really hard, be very disciplined, trust in God. I think that’s critical.”
Besiktas eyeing Chiesa (ESPN)
Besiktas could be looking to bring in Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa:
Besiktas have had an approach for Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa dismissed, reports Fabrizio Romano. The Super Lig are keen to sign a winger before the transfer window closes on Friday, but the Reds are unwilling to consider a loan offer for the 27-year-old. Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling, 30, is also on the radar of clubs in Turkey, but he is yet to make a final decision on his future as the Blues look to part ways with him.
