It’s not just the transfer portal that is getting activity in January with Ole Miss receiving a class of 2026 signee this weekend from Jamarion Owens.
The Raleigh, Miss. native stands 6’2” 270 lbs. and entertained offers from several non-Power Four schools being most recently committed to the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns. He is ranked as the No. 60 player in the state after winning the 3A Mr. Football award in his senior season as a defensive lineman.
With a three star rating from recruiting services, Owens could be billed as a project or a diamond in the rough from the jump, but he is a Magnolia State product. Coming in without recruiting hype or pedigree should be a good motivator for this player.
Raleigh won the 3A state title over Noxubee County this past season and had a 14-1 season overall. The Lions defense anchored by its line and their Mr. Football made crucial stop after crucial stop up 12-6 in the red zone with less than a minute left to ice the title.
